2nd of January 2012 21.00 hours - Polish broadcast on Radio Verulam!

Phil Richards (in the middle) - Founder director of Radio Verulam

Dear artists, journalists and music fans

I am very pleased to announce the new radio program which will be directed primarily to the Polish-speaking listeners living in the UK. On Radio Verulam in St. Albans (92.6 FM) one hour a week (every Monday from 21.00 to 22.00) will be allocated for the Polish national minority. The idea behind this program will be presenting Polish culture which makes up artists who live every day in our country and beyond its borders. In the UK lives a huge number of musicians who came from the Polish, as well as those who were born here but have Polish roots. The programmes will be dominated by music but you will also find some information about cultural events in Poland and the UK, which are happening, and can listen to interviews with guests invited to the studio. The programs are diverse and each will try to lead you to encourage co-creation programmes. Broadcasts will not be directed solely to the Poles, but also to the British and students of other nationalities, to whom we want to present the Polish culture. For this reason, our programmes will be conducted partly in Polish and partly in English. Due to the fact that the programmes will be broadcast on the airwaves and the Internet; they can be listened to outside St. Albans (also in Poland) by persons interested in what is happening in the cultural life of the Polish emigration.

Here is the link to listen to Radio Verulam on the Internet:

The first 20-minute Polish programme conducted in English was held at Radio Verulam in the morning of 13 October 2011 and was directed mainly to English-speaking audiences as promotional material and the promise of our future broadcasts. On 2nd January 2012 at 21.00 - 22.00 will start the first official Polish show and I invite you to enjoy it.

Radio is primarily entertainment, and music powerhouse radio station is all the charts. Before I do this thing on the airwaves, I now invite all music lovers to contribute to this programme.

These are the principles on which you can cast your votes:

1.       You can only vote by mail stating your full name and city. Participants send only one signed e-mail from their mail box to a specially created the needs of our Playlist e-mail address: polska.lista@wp.pl.   I also plan a draw prize and, hence, the additional request. If you would like to send greetings to a loved one, please give their name and whether or not you want us to mention your full name during the broadcast.

2.       You can vote for up to 10 tracks. Their placement will also be information for me to give credit for items which are the first - 10 points, second - 9 points, etc. If you only vote for one song, it receives 10 points. By voting for less than 10 songs and instrumental tracks, they will receive 10 points respectively starting from the top.

3.       You can vote on any song or instrumental piece that is sung or played by an artist who has Polish nationality or Polish origin (in case of bands at least one person from the group). These may be the most popular names or bands in the history of Polish music from before the war to the present days, or only locally known artists or newcomers who have just recorded their first demo. An artist who satisfies the above conditions may be a resident of Poland, Great Britain or any other country in the world. Songs may be performed in any language. You can also vote for an artist who does not have any family relationship with the Polish but he signs the song at least partly in the Polish language.

4.      Songs broadcast on Radio Verulam must not contain vulgar or offensive words. Texts cannot carry messages detrimental to anyone's feelings and be offensive to religion, origin, sexual orientation or skin colour. Therefore, we reserve the right not to publish such tracks even if they are voted for.

5.       In order to ensure the artistic value of music during the Polish programme, we will not present any mainstream music popularly known as disco-polo. The obvious consequence of this will be also the lack of this kind of music on our playlist.

6.      We are already accepting votes. Therefore, please send out this message to all your friends who love music and are interested in our programmes. They can also vote following the above principles by sending their name, city, greetings and a list of 10 songs in order from the best to the weakest (in their opinion) to the following address: polska.lista@wp.pl

I plan to present the complete playlist once every two months. Due to time constraints I will present it at two consecutive broadcast. In the first, I will play places from 20th to 11th, and a week later, places from 10th to 1st. Every two months one person taking part in our lottery will win a CD or a book on music, and 20 other people will have their e-mail greetings read at each subsequent braodcasts of Polish Playlist on the Radio Verulam, which I decided to give a familiar name „POLISZ CZART”.

Musicians, Journalists
and representatives of the music industry:
The idea of "Polisz Czart" means the coexistence on the same playlist well-known and popular songs with those that previously existed only locally or among artist's friends, with the latter given a chance of promotion. Hence, my request and suggestion. I ask all song writers, composers and performers for votes on their own songs as well as on their friends' songs and instrumental pieces. I direct the same request also to journalists and people promoting music. In this way along the so-called mega-hits, for which will probably vote all the people not connected with the music industry, also your music and the music of your loved ones will have a chance to be presented to the wide audience. If you vote for the unknown to me work, I will, then, ask you to send it to me ONLY in MP3 file as well as author's approval to broadcast it. If you are an author yourself, please attach your tracks directly to e-mail (max. 2 mp3 files in one email).

On behalf of myself and all engaged in the Polish show I wish you many pleasant moments when listening to Radio Verulam and encourage you to take part in the Playlist. Remember, this will be your radio and it is You who will also create playlists of the "Polisz Czart". Vote now. You will find each listing of "Polisz Czart" in a written form on my blog "Musical Journey" at:
